Ashton was ecstatic...

Friday, July 06, 2012

Seven year old Ashton was ecstatic when he threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Baltimore Orioles game among a crowd of thousands last Sunday.  After suffering a stroke at six months caused by AVMS, Ashton is on treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital for vascular malformations in the brain.

Throwing out the first pitch and tickets to the game are part of the Family Festivities program, one of six programs of the Casey Cares Foundation. “Ashton has been through so much and the hardest thing as a parent is watching your child suffer,” says Betsy, Ashton’s mom. “Casey Cares is like the sunshine on a cloudy day. Through Casey Cares we have had the chance to attend group events and have fun family days. It gives us something to look forward to and helps make the dark days a little brighter.”

Thanks Baltimore Orioles for making this summer a memorable one indeed for Ashton and his family!
