Terps are Tops for CCF Families

The Maryland Terps and Coach Edsall saved their best practice for last when they hosted two Casey Cares children and their families to their last pre- game practice and lunch last week.  Football fans fourteen year old Dylan who is being treated for a recurring brain tumor at Johns Hopkins Hospital and nine year old Marielle who’s battling ALL leukemia at University of Maryland Medical Center braved the summer heat to meet the University of Maryland football players and coaches. Because she was so excited, Marielle even hand-made duck tape wallets to hand out to all the players and coaches. 

Coach Edsall said, “I am excited to be hosting these special kids and their families.  If we can bring a smile to their faces and provide a distraction for them, even for a short time it will be wonderful.  Reaching out to the community and helping kids like those associated with Casey Cares is important to us as a program and a terrific experience for our student athletes.”

This visit is part of the Casey Cares Family Festivities Program, which offers families an opportunity to spend time together at sporting events, concerts, and local attractions to name a few.  Whenever possible, activities are enhanced by providing unique experiences.   Click here to find out more:
